Title: Respect Title song
Post by: kara on March 29, 2008, 02:19:49 PM
I"ve been a busy bee again  ::) ;D
Since the Respect album is suposed to be a collaboration album, I was thinking that the title song 'Respect' should be a global collaboration of as many artists as possible.
So I've made a rough sketch for the title song.
I've added the synths only to give a idea about the theme, but I propose to start from the percussion track that I've uploaded separatly, that way everybody can add his part.
What does it need ? Simple, if we start from the percussion track, which will be my contribution, it needs everything  ;D

For those who have the possibility of putting markers in there DAW, here is the structure of the song :
A- 8bars : Fade in intro
B- 8bars : Intro 2
C- 16bars : First verse
D- 16 bars
E- 16bars
F- 16 bars
G- 16 bars
F
G
H - 16 bars ending

Other question  :D Who wants to do the mix ?
I've done the mix of Cyber blues, but I'm convinced that there people here that are way better at mixing and production then I am (Rharv, Oren, Martin,....)

Demo track : http://www.kara-moon.com/recordings/Respectdemo1.ogg
Percussion only : http://www.kara-moon.com/recordings/RespPerconly1.ogg

Let's make this a good title song !
O forgot...; BPM is 121

I like this. It's got the sort of feel that could really go somewhere.

I could certainly do an electric guitar part, but as we have so many (better!) guitar players here, I could offer a finger-picked acoustic guitar line, for starters. It's also in a good key for a penny-whistle fill at some point, maybe echoing the main melody motif.
Can you give us a chord breakdown? It sounds fairly obvious but would hate to miss some subtlety.

I can do better then that, a full midi-file  ;)
Tracks 1 - 5 are the percussion track
6-7-8 are the instrument tracks

@Others, feel free to render the instrument tracks with other sounds...
I'm quit happy with the glassy piano sound, but the synth and brass synth track could be way better !

I'll work on some sounds for the 'other' tracks next week.

If you need help mixing I'll pitch in, just need the tracks..

Amazing potential - a great place to start!

Lot's of room for creative input. Good work, Kara :;

(of course, whatever I can do to contribute... :D)

OK, I've set the ball rolling.
I've created a 16 bar acoustic guitar pick which can be copied to any set of 16.
Created a folder at FTP site called TitleSong and uploaded an APE file of this loop.
Take it from there, rharv.

I have your track, James
I sounds like the last bar has been cut off and the last note isn't complete.
Was this intentional ?

The file that I have sounds OK. Have you tried looping it or stringing two sets together? This should tell you if it is complete or not as they should run together. It should be 0:31 seconds.
If you have a problem I'll re-send it.
