Title: RESPECT album submissions
Post by: Oren on January 08, 2009, 05:22:50 PM
How be I create a folder on the FTP site - "Respect Album Submissions" - and each artist who has produced a song in 2008 that he/she feels is right for this project, upload it as a FLAC file or MonkeysAudio file. I'll master the whole thing to Ogg Vorbis and MP3. Then we can make it available as a download...individual songs, or an album package.

How cool is that, eh?

NeoN,
I'll put the FTP folder up later today. Get your song in as soon as you're able... I think we can wait another week or two... Let's say the end of January, at the latest.
Cool?

This sounds excellent.

Oren, do you still have the files for 'Empires Of Dust'? That's one I'd very much like to see on the list. I'll also upload the collab I did with James 'Celtic Dreams'.

Yes, Will.
Are you happy with the version incorporating percussion? I still have to tweak that mix a little, but to me, it shows the most promise.

The project folder is up on our FTP site - "RESPECT 2008 .FLAC and .APE files". Project length and the number of songs is unlimited, because it's D.D.O. "digital download only".
Give me your best, and I'll do you proud... :;

Just busy uploading a modified version of
Looking Back (to move on).
This is the one that started out for this project as a collab, but is mainly myself plus Oren's drums and Wyatt with congas and harp as well as the final mix.
The change I have made is to take out a section of the instrumental break as I felt it was too long in the original.

Mario,
Thanks for "Tranquility Island"!

James,
"Looking Back(to move on)" is a dandy choice... If you want to upload "Colours of the Saints", cool also.
As to artwork - can that be your baby? I have no clue about anything but audio... :D

Just for interest sake, I'll do the whole project in Linux, incorporating the JACK audio connection kit, Ardour digital audio workstation, and JAMin mastering interface.

Thanks Oren,
It would probably be best, for a download album, if I make a PDF booklet.
To this end .... can everyone who submits a song send me the details of that song,
i.e. title/artist/instruments/software/photo/links to other music/any other details you want included.
Send to:
offthewallart@gmail.com

Roger,
Anything posted on Kara-Moon in 2008 is fair game. Particularly those songs with a theme involving respect, in one form or other. Shall we consider "Some Kind of Blue"? It's about contemplation and personal renewal...

Will,
Yes to zee Tribes! Upload, my man.... :-

Oren,
I just checked back (forgive the old-age memory lapses  ::) ) to last June when we all made contest contributions for this project.
Hence I uploaded *Summer Solstice* from Folderol & myself, and *WhatYaGonnaDo* from Mlitt & myself.
It's scary how rapidly the memory fails.  :o

OK folks,
here is a first draft for the booklet.
This is totally my own idea of things. The content so far is only as a tester. This is all just a guideline to try and establish a format.
I have made it CD size and shape in case users wish to download and print.
Please let me know if there are any major objections.

Kuguar,
A collaboration song is not necessary. Any song that was posted on the forum in 2008 qualifies. Preferably a song that in some way involves the "respect" theme.
If you need help uploading your song to our FTP site, send me a private message, and I'll give you all the information you need.

General question about this.
As I know nothing at all about download albums .... does this project need any kind of serial number, as for instance our 'In A Spin' album was Kara-Moon CD 0701 ?
Is there any other sort of 'official' stuff to go on the brochure?
Is this to be a free download or paid?

It will be a free download, propably from the km shop. I'll have to check this with Moon.
I don't think there should be something extra on the back of the CD, the copyright mention is there
