Title: Something totally different
Post by: folderol on September 30, 2010, 08:53:45 PM
This doesn't have a relevant topic anywhere on the forum as far as I can see :o

First take a look at this link:-

http://createdigitalmusic.com/2008/12/31/intimate-control-multi-touch-new-models-and-what-2009-is-really-about/

Do make sure you watch the whole video, it gets more interesting as it goes on! It is a fascinating, and I think quite unique sensing system.

Now have a look at what is being developed as a commercial version:-

What I find especially interesting is that although they are seeking patent protection for the hardware, they seem to be encouraging people to develop D.I.Y. interfaces and software.

Interesting!

The project is developing in Seattle, U.S.A., but they have some affiliation with the University of Victoria. There is a wonderful assortment of musical whack-jobs here on the Island - this could get very cool...

It's good to know they are including the open-source community in this effort. It will likely move forward much more quickly (and develop in more interesting directions) than if they restricted it to a corporate design team.

Good one, Will!
