Title: A friend of a friend.
Post by: Oren on October 25, 2010, 12:00:10 AM
My bother-in-law, Harv (one of two new Blue Muthers - http://www.kara-moon.com/forum/index.php?topic=5905.0 - a fundamental audio enthusiast specializing in vibration measurement - amplitude and frequency - and vibration isolation) told me I should have a listen to his friend, Jeff McIntosh. So I did.
You may want to, also... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8mx7NXeOFuo

The guy should read up a bit about recording techniques  :-\ it's a real shame you can hear all those fret noises in the recording.

It's a beautifull song with great lyrics and he has the perfect voice for such songs.

I always regret that I've never learn to play the guitar when I listen to songs like that.

Agreed. Maybe I should send him a note about our forum...

I do believe Audacity would take out the fret noise.

One has to be very mindful of how much the noise reduction is used in Audacity,as it tends to "digitize" the overall sound, which takes away from the natural ambiance of the sound.
In fact, using Audacity to resolve this issue would be the absolute last resort for me.
Some carpeting & any sort of padding on the walls is a no brainer, which shouldn't necessitate readings from a manual.
