Title: USB data storage devices and Windows 7 64-bit Post by: Oren on February 15, 2011, 07:07:46 PM Plenty of Windows7 ::) users are having difficulty using their USB drives. Microsoft has no clue as to how to remedy this. Any one here had the problem and found a solution?

And an external hd, which should be the same thing.

Others cannot recognise the drive, or cannot format it, and in extreme cases the drive is rendered useless until re-formatted on another computer. Users with an nVIDEA chipset are more likely to experience the USB problem, and it appears to have been an issue with Vista also, with slightly different symptoms.
