Title: New Granville Single featuring Emdot
Post by: emdot_ambient on May 30, 2007, 03:43:16 PM
So, like, I've been working forever on drum programming/arranging/slicing/dicing/mixing/mastering, etc. on the second Granville CD . . . The first single from this CD, a song called Evening Trains, has been released on the Granville MySpace page (http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=100393731).

Aside from mixing, mastering, and a lot of audio track manipulation (which hopefully isn't really very obvious) I did the drums on this in Battery 2 and the string synth with Benedict's Janus synth (from the Synth Studio Pack I).

Anyone familiar with my work will quickly realize this isn't my normal style. But I've worked in rock formats before and have been a close collaborator with Granville (aka Brian Myers) for longer than a lot of you have been on this once green earth.

Two more songs coming up fairly soon.

Check it out and if you like, I'm sure Granville would like a few more friends!

Thanks! We're tinkering around with the ending of the second release from this CD--tweaking songs when we live on different coasts of the US is a pain!--but we should have it up within a week. That one is much livelier (and has a lot more arrangement by your's truly, though sadly we've had to cut the instrumental part at the end with a bit of a synth solo by me).

He, he, listen to me complaining about missing a solo! I've got M-Tron strings going all through the next song ;D

Noooo !!  :o
it should be interesting to hear you soloing, You sound so measured and mellow (almost restrained at times), a man of sober arrangements.
But... I don't know... :-[ maybe I haven't heard that much of you. Am I wrong ? :-\

Cheers

;D Well, I don't know about that . . . but the solo that's being skipped was fairly sober and mellow. Actually it sounded rather like an accordion melody . . . he he.

We've done so many endings on this song, I'm kind of lost on it right now. We did a long instrumental dub ending, a short instrumental dub ending, a very short instrumental section followed by a standard wrap-up ending, then cut the instrumental at the end altogether. Thing is, I think it's going to end up being the official single, so they're trying to keep it down to under 4 minutes. With the instrumental at the end it was almost 5:20 long. Right not it's more like 3:54. After the CD's officially out, I'll push to try and get some alternate versions released online.
