Title: One Life(Elwood mix)
Post by: elwoodblues1969 on May 02, 2011, 05:50:32 PM
Added a bass & viola track,as that was all I could manage...no sense in demolishing this song with my vocals.I can no longer stand the nasal, pinched & shrilly voice I have.
I also cannot tolerate the feeling,as if someone is strangling me every time I attempt to sing...I'm through embarrassing myself in that way.

I hope this instrumentation works for you,James.

Sorry guys,as my brains are scrambled to day. :P Just not having a good day & in fact,I wish today never happened...listening to sad music when I was finishing up my work this morning, didn't help my mood any.

 :o
I got to say, Thom ... that is very tasty, my friend.
I LOVE the strings, and the bass ... well, for a song about a bass player, by another bass player ... you've made a great job of it.
Thank you.

 ;)

Thank you, my friend...your positive feedback salvaged what was turing out to be a completely useless day for me. :) I wish I could have done more for your tune, but perhaps others could add a 2nd part harmony to your song.

I too like the additions. The bass fits especially well.

This is absolutely outstanding.  A beautiful song with just the perfect backing tracks.  Super lyrics!

Great job gentlemen.

The bass is a nice touch, but that cello/viola action is stellar! James' voice and acoustic guitar are brought to life, and the production sparkles...

Regarding yer pipes, Thom... It may be helpful to adopt the attitude of those vocalists like Willy Nelson and Lemmy (Motorhead) who can't sing - but belt it out anyway. Your voice reminds me of... er, you. This is good.
Regarding any discomfort while vocalizing: relax, be you, and have some fun = no pain, no strain. :;

Thanks Oren....I too, feel that the instrumentation was a notable success and in fact,I think the viola segments are a nice alternative to me adding a 2nd part vocal harmony.
If I had persisted in adding my vocals,it would have not only crowded the song I think, but the amount of wind emanating from my pipes, would have overpowered Mr. Fraser's gentle vox.

The thing I find really frustrating about my voice,is that sometimes I can manage to sing somewhere between tenor & soprano on certain songs,& not others.
There is a complexity about vocal chords that goes beyond just the ability to reach a certain octave....as for instance,I could sing U2 songs fairly well(when I practiced regularly),but I could never cover any George Michael songs, whatsoever.

I appreciate the pep-talk. 8)

Personally, I don't see this as any kind of problem... ;D

I can't do Frank Sinatra - mercifully... and have great difficulty with Michael Jackson and Tiny Tim - no broken hearts there either... :D
