Title: Silver and Spanish Leather
Post by: Wyatt on June 18, 2007, 11:12:37 AM
This is the instrumental for a story about a man who had to flee his native country to escape oppression.

..part of the HighwayMan series from a couple of years ago.

Ooh yeah, Wyatt!

Have you added a little flange to this since last I heard it?

The Strat combined with that next-generation Fender amp gives you a very identifiable sound. Great performance!

Oren.

Thanks for listening, and thanks for the kind words.

..yes there is flange in this..the original full length version for the story had first chorus, then phase, and then flange in different sections..I just made this clip this morning and included that last third.

Hi Wyatt
this isn't a rocking number, but I like it for its unusual mood, a bit sad. The experimental guitar sound works very well, imo, I like to hear different tones. very good.

Cheers

Thanks for listening, Laguna..and thanks for your comments..I do spend a *lot* of hours, just tweaking my amp..hunting for sounds.

A good song with a special flavor.
Good playing, I must admit that I wasn't very fund of the flanger, but that is just personal taste.

Thanks for listening kara.

I did this a couple years ago. I nearly forgot..thinking back..on the original, I used chorus, phase, and flange on it *afterwards*, using Adobe Audition...I remember that I used to do that for a while..now a days, I am using only my amp/guitar settings..I like my current sounds better.

If I were to be doing it over, I would be dialing in the sound on my amp before recording. That is how I have been recording for quite some time now.. It might be an interesting project..to record an up-to-date version for comparison.

Thanks for your comments.

Some nice ideas in this one.  Your playing is a bit hurried and strained it seems. Learn to relax while playing. Keep the right wrist subtle. (assuming your right-handed)

Thanks Martin,

..first, the song is a tense song..about a narrow escape to freedom..and since this song was about something I lived through, yes, it was also tense for me.

..still too close in time to a hard road already traveled.

..good tip, thanks..I added it to my 'guitar professor' thread.
