Title: More Trad.
Post by: offthewall on March 29, 2020, 07:45:34 AM
Here is a traditional song, dating from back in the 1840's, that I used to know many years ago and decided to revisit.

Guitar, bouzouki, hi and lo whistles and organ. All from me this time.
I planned to get others involved but as it developed I enjoyed it too much.

Quite unfamiliar with this one. Where do you get these from?
I see you're still managing the whistle. Mr. Ritus holding back a bit?
Thanks for sharing.

No. That Arthur is still a pest.
I just have to keep on persevering!

The thing about traditional songs is that there are thousands of them.
Some have been done to death whilst others can have maybe one or two known recordings.
Quite often there are only the words, which can easily be put to other tunes of a similar vintage.

This particular one came to me from the playing of Planxty who were my musical heroes back in the early 70's.
