Title: Is Christmas really cancelled?
Post by: offthewall on November 02, 2020, 09:17:04 PM
Seeing as Halloween is over and Will has formally cancelled Christmas here is a little 'non-Christmas' ditty that I just finished.

As soon as I saw these lyrics (from a regular contributor of mine) I knew what I wanted to do with them.
A number of years back the late great Leon Redbone did an amazing (alternative) Christmas album which has been a favourite of mine ever since.
If this song had been penned then I'm sure it could've been on that album.
So, I set out to create the song in a style reminiscent of his.

Put Me On The Naughty List.
Lyrics are from Joel Sattler (USA).
Drums and piano, Nigel Robinson (Scotland)
Tuba and trumpet, Tony Gee (UK)
Lead guitar solo, Derek Barlas (Canada)
Composition, acoustic guitar, banjo, bass, dobro, vocals, production: Me.
(all real instruments. No VST or synth)
Enjoy.

Sounds great James :;

I am also a Leon fan and yes if written back then it would have been on his Christmas album.  However this gave me a more Steve Goodman vibe. YMMV.
