If you are as old as I am you may remember the Maestro Rhythm King.  It was one of if not the first drum machine in the 1960s..  It had awful sounding drums and even worse rhythms as well as a foot pedal to make it start and stop on a dime.  If you are not familiar with it see and hear it here:

Anyway my good friend BobH was over Sunday and we put on a short drum machine loop as a click track and jammed to it.  BobH came up with a great guitar track that fit the repetitiveness of the drum machine so we thought why not make a song out of it. So we added our own parts to the drum track and hopefully spiced it up enough so it wasn't so redundant.

Bob is playing the rhythm track on my SX Tele guitar.
I am playing the lead and harmony on my Harley Benton fake Gretsch guitar and via my keyboard and breath controller the Swam Tenor Sax.
Band-in-a-Box is playing the balance of the tracks.

Will, that was to bad for someone whom hasn't picked up a guitar in a long long time.
I think you should spend a little more time on your guitar.
If I may ask what guitar and amp were you using?  The tone was quite good.

The drums sound great Will, as does the entire song.
You are the master of the Yoshimi Soft Synth.
Those sounds were fantastic.

The theme this month was to play an instrument you shouldn't.
It's a long, long, time since I attempted to play the guitar!

I first composed an earlier version of this in 1993, at that time using a combination of Roland Sound Canvas, and Yamaha SY22

It is now considerably rewritten and added to, and works entirely in one instance of the Yoshimi Soft Synth. Also using all 16 MIDI channels, and recorded in a single pass, with no external effects/adjustments.

It now becomes my answer to people who claim you can't get decent drums with a soft synth  Tongue

Very nicely done - as usual! Good subject material for the date (and also quite relevant with our current crop of politicians) Sad

As usual James everything sounds great.

The new site looks good but FWIW I missed seeing you playing our instruments.

PS - I know what you mean as I have a few of my band members and collaborators join the big band in the sky. Unfortunately that happens when you are as old as I am.

Not doing much at all just now but this is one I made in time for Burns Night celebrations on 25th. (Robbie Burns, Scotland national poet)

The place I do things now has a new 'share link' system so am trying it out here to see if it works easily.
Link should take you to a player page with artwork, lyrics, etc.
