As far as I am concerned,undisputely-there is no better virtual analog synth out there for a grand,then the Nord Lead 2X,but if I were interested in buying one of the top VA synths out there in the 2 to 3 grand price range,I would choose the Access Virus TI over the Nord Modular G2X(mainly due to what I would use it for).

The main 3 reasons why;

80 voice polyphony

2048 rom presets

24 bit/192khz D/A converters

I think it's the most impressive VA synth out there for under $3,000 and it's only $250.00(USD) more then the Nord G2X

Each of these synths-I'm sure,have there own unique attributes and it depends on what you are going to be using your synth for,but still,I am astonished by the Virus's specs for the money,especially in comparison to VA synths like the Alesis Andromeda,Roland V-synth GT & the Dave Smith Poly Evolver.

The audio demos on the Virus website speak volumes. Shocked

I do agree that those 2 machines form an ideal couple.
It is hard to compare them since, like you say yourself, they are 2 different synth's.

So, in an ideal world, where I wouldn't have a budget, I would have both  Grin
