Down time at Kara-Moon

Last week, we experienced our first (and hopefully last ) extended period of down time at Kara-Moon, and we feel an explanation is in order.

On a few brief occasions in the past, our server has had some difficulties, and service was interrupted for a short time while repairs were made. Now that the server has been in operation for an extended period of time, whatever shortcomings that existed have been nicely worked out, and its reliability has greatly improved.

This most recent incident was not equipment failure, but trouble with a commercial website that shared the server with Kara-Moon. Once the difficulty was identified, all non-essential sites were shut down until a solution could be found. The commercial website in question has since been moved to another server, and measures have been taken to prevent a similar occurance in the future.

However, in the unlikely event that such a situation should arise again, we've arranged that the moderators be contacted with details as quickly as possible, and we will do our best to pass on the information to Kara-Moon site members.

Thanks for resuming your activities here at the site with such enthusiasm, and being so supportive of Kara and Moon's efforts. I know it means a lot to them.

Don't worry, we have again taken big steps to improve the service of kara-moon.
Some commercial websites has been moved to a separate server now, this will limit the load of the kara-moon server
Moon added more security to the kara-moon server.

And please... don't forget that this is a completly free service, each time we need more resources, we need to talk to our sponsors.

Also, I want to add that we take backups on a regular basis. So in the unlikely event that a plain crashes the webserver, I can have a new kara-moon up and running in about 48 hours. Yes, we take our site seriously !

Just a litle update
The commercial website have been migrated now to a new server and are tested.
This should certainly make the kara-moon website more stable and avoid overloading of the server.
And I've personaly noticed a speed gain on our site and the forum.

my feed here is quite variable, so i hadn't noticed at first, but yes, it's definitely snappier
