Never thought about the Monkees really. But the buh, bah bah's were of course regularly present in 60's songs. I could mention The Turtles as well.

About the lead guitar: I didn't want that part to stick out too much in the mix. I felt it would not be appropiate in the context of the song.  So, yes it was a conscious choice.

About the horns: as I mentioned earlier I'm not really satisfied with the sound of the horns either. The sound is a bit too obstrusive compared too the rest of the instruments. It needs to be more mellow. Well I can hear you say: "why don't you fix it". Well mixing and mastering this song was a bit of job. I'm not looking forward to doing it all again right now. For the moment I prefer to move on to the next song. I might have an other look at it in a few weeks time.
