Who? Me?

I'd only been working on this for a few odd evenings, so wasn't making a lot of progress. Today (I don't work Wednesdays) it was dull, wet and miserable, so instead of my usual mid-week walk. I hunkered down and got on with it.

It's a long way from finished, but I think you'll get the general idea Smiley

Is that right next to the Blackpool Polka Ballroom? Grin

Happy little song, but I thought "polka" immediately... Kiss

Thanks everyone for such nice comments.

The timing is 6/8 so that makes it a fast waltz, or what my Mum used to call an 'Old Fashioned' waltz.

During the day I had more ideas, so got straight on to it. Balance and stereo imaging is a lot better, and the tune has grown Smiley

Here is the latest incarnation.

Hmmm.
It's too late for supper now Shocked

Well... I've been working on this again Roll Eyes

I think it is now more-or-less as I want it. I will probably just be doing a bit more instrument balancing and tidying up a few bits (mostly on the percussion).

As it stands now, the piccolo and flute are soundfonts (fluidsynth GeneralUser GS 1.4), the percussion is Hydrogen (Millo-Drums_V.1) and everything else is ZynAddSubFX. As usual the sequencer is Rosegarden.

I hope you like this latest version and any suggestions are more than welcome.

Well I hope nobody thinks I'm spamming the list, but here is the last version. I don't think I'll be able to improve on this.

Stuff used:
Qsynth (GeneralUser GS 1.4) for Flute and Piccolo
Hydrogen (Millo-Drums_V.1) for percussion - except tambourine shake
ZynAddSubFX for everything else
Rosegarden to tie it all together

The percussion track was quantised, but everything else is free-flowing.

This is my favorite by far..sweet tonal balance, perfect mix, and a lovely flowing performance.

You nailed it.

It's a beautefull popdance in my taste. All parts jointed together absolutely and are very simple and nice, especially flute solo 00:00:26-00:00:51. Shame to me, I have passed your post and work, Folderol, from the beginning

@Wyatt
One of the things I like about Rosegarden is that it lets me record MIDI in real time while playing back all exisiting tracks.

A little trick I've developed is to actually start playing along a couple of bars before the phrase I want to record. This means I am (hopefully) completely in sync by the time I reach the part I've just learned and there isn't that panicky 'Wow. Gotta start playing now'. I then just scrub off the unwanted duplicate section.

@kuguar
It is surprisingly easy to miss posts. I'm glad you found this anyway, and that you like my work Smiley
