Aaah youngsters!
Here's the story : I installed Buzz on a laptop of a young guy who wants to get in music.
After a demo i gave him, he said that it just don't compare to QUOTE : real synths /QUOTE !!

Well I've remixed Wendy for him (an old buzz compo) and I would appreciate your opinion on it.

Can this compete with the latest hardware or software synths ?

The song plays only native Buzz generator, no Vsti's, it takes max. 36% of CPU on an old AMD3000 (700 MHz) processor.

Well...him growing up in a lush & well advanced world of synths,I can see his vantage point-but then of course,he doesn't appreciate the fact that Buzz is a free program that has sounds that would have cost a small fortune,20 years ago.

Buzz certainly does compete well with a lot of semi-pro and budget priced pro synths like the Korg MicroStation,Novation synths,Roland Juno D & so forth.

This kid is certainly in dire need of a history lesson....no doubt! Roll Eyes Grin

I do agree Thom
And beside that, Buzz has a number of generators that are unique and don't exist in hardware or software.
Listen to that Screamer which is a native Buzz generator and try to make this with a hardware synth or Vsti... good luck, i've tried it...

Sounds damn good to me.

Ive never heard of buzz untill now, and just skimming over their website it looks like a hell of a package for free, I'm downloading it now hopefully I can use it as a vst, or better yet through ReWire as I prefer to route everything through one program.

Question... what is it like for long evolving sounds, pad sounds that evolve/change over time?

If your young friend is just getting into music, this seem a good way into it.  Looks like it has a lot more flexibility than Fl Studio, what most young-uns are using these days, and most songs in that seem to always sound the same, with Buzz it looks like a good introduction into how a sound is created too instead of just using loads of synths and "preset bashing" he can learn to make the sounds that he wants. and of course its free Smiley

Jeskola Buzz is a genuine software phenomenon, and as far as I can tell by listening to Buzz musicians, there is no limit to what an artist can create with it. Big, lush, complex sounds - infinite variation.

The only area where Buzz may fall behind conventional softsynths and hardware synthesizers is in reproducing traditional instrument sounds. But if a Buzzer wanted to spend the time, I'm sure accurate emulations could be created. The impression is that most Buzz musicians are having so much fun with synthetic instrument sounds that they have no interest in emulations...

After looking in to this amazing audio resource, it becomes apparent that, with a program as large and versatile as Buzz, an artist is only limited by his/her imagination and ingenuity...  Afro

This sounds familiar, but I don't remember it on here. It's not really my thing, but nicely done.
