Magmavander,
I wanted to do something extraordinary in memory of Rony/Kara. Very glad you like it! Merci bien...

Thom,
It would be cool to have the Sneddon effect working on this tune... Cool
I'll twist up a .wav copy of the whole rhythm track and send it your way - give me a couple of days.

Will,
Thanks for listening. With luck this will develop as so many projects here at K-M do... ending up bigger than the sum of our artistic abilities... Cheesy

Here is a slice of mixdown featuring some bits of ivory tinkling from the inimitable T. Sneddon, Esquire...

Time for some constructive criticism, friends. This is a rough mix, and I'd like to see as much collaboration as possible in refining it... Afro

Oren,

The bass line is domineering, particularly around the 600Hz range. The drums are fine...but the keys sit too far off in the distance.

Overall,the audio fidelity is poor.

On a more personal note,I don't find any appeal whatsoever in the heavy metal guitar work in this song,as I feel that one genre is intruding into another....sort of like when your listening to a radio station and the signal gets interrupted by another radio station's signal.
I feel that there is a lot of meandering going with this arrangement.Sorry to be so raw in my observations, but at this particular stage of development,I find it truly disappointing.

Notre Bon Ami
...
They say it's too late to set the record straight,
But still, I'm going to try.
If I had known you were leaving, friend,
I would have said goodbye.

I hope you knew how much I thought of you...

Can you hear me friend, can you hear this song?
Notre bon ami had it going on.

What happens now? I really don't know,
It's sad to see you go...

.

Two guys are going to make a cake. One guy is providing most of the ingredients and mixing the batter.
His friend is providing some choice ingredients, and is invited over to taste the batter. His comment: "Gee, I'm quite disappointed in this cake, man".
My point - it's still just a goopy mess - let's reserve any emotional response until it's out of the oven... Cheesy

Don't sweat it , friend - it's still early days!
       _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Some compression and EQ at 600Hz on the bass line are in order - easily done.

Bring up the keys a bit - good plan.

I tend to like a lo-fi sound, but still, once EQ and compression are applied to each track, things will tighten up considerably.

Rony was always after me to play louder and longer, so I went for it here - probably a bad idea... Roll Eyes
Fortunately, I can re-do the guitar parts in just about any conceivable style (he's boasting, now Grin), so I'll go for a clean sound - maybe  some Dooby Brothers harmony action.

Meandering is a personal style - it sorta suits my creative method - I hate to over-control a project. I'm thinking that once we have executed all the production suggestions, this puppy will establish its own direction... here's hoping...
Thanks for the advice, New Jersey - we will prevail... Afro

 Undecided
Well,
I got to say that I haven't had much time lately to look in here ...
but I have followed this one with interest  Cool

I just had a quick listen, after reading Thom's comments, with guitar in hand to see if I would approach this piece from a different direction. I thought, maybe, the acoustic way ...

but, no  Shocked

I feel the style is spot on, Mr Fisher.   As per usual.  wOO

Thanks for taking the time to listen and comment, Mr. Fraser!

This is an approach to production I've never tried before, so the genre (sampled and looped percussion) is unfamiliar. Perhaps some more experimentation is in order, with a lighter touch on my instrument - given what a heavy-handed bunch we guitarists are known to be... Shocked... Wink
