Notre Bon Ami
...
They say it's too late to set the record straight,
But still, I'm going to try.
If I had known you were leaving, friend,
I would have said goodbye.

I hope you knew how much I thought of you...

Can you hear me friend, can you hear this song?
Notre bon ami had it going on.

What happens now? I really don't know,
It's sad to see you go...

merci pour les paroles, très jolies, bises

One more time...
Guitar attenuated - bass compressed - keyboard brought forward - vocals compressed - various weird analog noises removed Grin
Constructive criticism invited... Afro

...and what may be the final version - drums given more dynamic range - stereo image improved. My only remaining concern is that the bass guitar may still be too loud...

Comments...?

The bass sounds balanced to me-a bit more pronounced maybe,in contrast to the lo-fi quality of my tracks perhaps, but then that's the type of sound you had aimed for.
The drums are where they should be and your axe tracks are clear & pristine,so I think the bass level is fine.

Hey....isn't Bon Ami a bathroom cleanser? Wink

You've been infected by The Funk; isn't it ?
I enjoyed every bits of it. Wonderful instrumentation. Killer bassline. Klavinett and ePiano are tasty. And the vocal fits so well.
Fantastic one!!!

Am I to get the impression that this mix will suffice...?... Cheesy

Will,
Thanks for monitoring this one. I know it's miles from where you normally roam.

James,
I left the guitar alone as you had suggested (just lowered the levels), after trying several different styles that proved unsatisfactory. Thanks for helping with your six-string perspective.

Magmavander,
It is largely as a result of listening to your music that I was inspired to try working with this genre. Very happy you like it...

Thom,
The song matured and became viable because of your keyboard contributions and excellent criticism. Thanks again, hoser!
(yes, it's a cleanser. In France it's named "Good Friend"... Grin)

Azell,
A good song about a good man. He is still inspiring us to do our best work.
