..gone before,in the bedroom.

After having an incident with my wooden captain's bed(a main support beam cracking in half & nearly collapsing the entire bed),I was in a bit of a pickle,in terms of where to crash for the evenings....which prompted me to shop for a new sleeping configuration and thereby dipping into my Paypal credit account,to fund the project.
Once I decided to ditch the concept of buying any more wood materials,I then had a brainstorm....why not recreate the cadet quarters of the Starship Enterprise?!To do so,I decided to model my room in the style of the Enterprise,as it was designed in the 80's franchise(which consisted of bunk beds with metal tubing as the bed frame).

Since I was on a budget of about $500,I sought to remodel my bedroom via Walmart and found a gray metal twin/full bunk bed for $179,a compressed coil mattress for $128,a gray micro-fiber sheet set for $26.88,a pair of insulated, pewter curtains for $17 and an 12' X 8' light blue carpet for $74 with free shipping all around!
I also re-painted my room with a beautiful Soft Sapphire Blue & Seal Gray(unfortunately,my camera does not do justice to the actual shades of colors). All this of course,is just the beginning,in creating the Star Trek motif I have in mind.
I want to try & maintain an adult style and stick to the 23rd century military theme,by using regal colors & neutral tones(rather than going with loud colors & cheesy murals on the walls).....so that I feel like I am on the Enterprise, when I'm in my bedroom(rather than feeling like I am sleeping in a child daycare center).

To further the Star Trek vibe, there's a wonderful website that specializes in Star Trek novelties, called; http://www.cafepress.com/+startrektv+rugs and to start with,I am looking to eventually acquire a Star Trek area rug.

My previous motif, being wood-based,along with an olive drab color scheme(inspired by the M*A*S*H tv show),was great for a while, but I find this new color scheme to be so much more uplifting & exceedingly delightful(& having a bed that is as solid as a ship, without being in danger of it ever collapsing on me,is a big plus)!  Grin

Cool colour choices - and those acoustic corner treatments fit in very nicely. The whole room comes across with your central theme...SCHWEET! Afro

Thanks for the comments Will.Yep...my little squatter was all too eager to park himself on the new digs.....especially since he had been so upset about all of the moving about & chaos of the remodel. Cheesy

Looking pretty cool there.
Did you ever see my kitchen?

Yes sir...my own restoration. It's a vintage dresser(probably about 50 years old)...picked it up at a Salvation Army store about 16 years ago and the photo at the very bottom,is how it looked before the re-design.

Not too big a production really, just a bit of sanding to rough up the surface and some paint & new hardware from my local Home Depot...I banged it out in a day.
The top of the dresser, has a rubber yoga mat glued to it(to give it an industrial, hard look to the dresser).

Thanks James.

Yes...I have seen your kitchen before.Impressive paint job and I really like the Starfleet insignia on your floor! Afro Replicating the interior of the Enterprise is more to my taste, rather than having murals on everything.
I had bought a area rug with the same insignia for my bedroom, but it was terribly cheap & tacky looking.I think murals have their place, but I prefer to keep them out of my bedroom and in fact,I don't even care to put movie posters in my room...but I may hang up a few in my living room. Smiley
