...just looking for clues...

« on: July 20, 2014, 09:14:24 PM »

A small breed of deer, exclusive to the southern tip of Vancouver Island, sometimes leave their leafy home in Beacon Hill Park to roam the streets and gardens of our neighbourhood, looking for blooms to eat. I understand they are particularly fond of roses. While this little fellow was standing in the next door park lot, a neighbour hurried out the back door with her recycling - never even seeing the deer. The deer was not impressed...

Whilst biking through Winding River Park earlier today,I encountered a few deer...made me wish I had a helmet camera,as it was the highlight of my day! Smiley

Very nice video!

I have a lot of pictures of deer that I have taken over the years.  Here is one of a fawn born about 1 or 2 hours prior to this picture.  The mother was still cleaning him off before she tried to distract us.

They are very cute ... until they eat the tulips that your wife so tenderly grew in your garden Smiley

That picture belongs on a mouse pad...or at the very least,a framed picture!

Agreed!

It amazes me how deer adapt successfully to urban and suburban parks.
Actually, it's a good thing Granddad is dead and buried - he'd love to visit and treat us to some fresh venison. He always had a rifle in the trunk of his car... Cheesy

Nice vid. Are those 'early season' antlers or is it just a very young deer?

A young one, doubtless. This was one of three roaming together, and the antlers on the other two were much more developed, although all three critters were about the same size.
