OK gang.
I've made a rough mix for my first contribution and uploaded it to the Project Room.
Folder called Song_02.

At this point it is acoustic guitar, bass and vocals.
I'm open to any additions but if it doesn't work for you guys I can always finish it off with mandolin or something else.
105 bpm and the lyrics and chords are up as a PDF.
Lemme know if you can access it and also if it inspires any interest.

Had a good listen to this. I enjoyed it but can't at the moment think of anything that I could add to it - mind you I'm stuffed up with a cold right now Sad

Thanks for listening Will.
The words were directly inspired by our times here over this decade.
Hope it's not too sentimental.
Just went with that for starters as no-one wanted to give this idea a theme.
Looking forward to hearing what you have in store.

James,

Touching lyrics and the composition is lovely...really enjoyed your song. Cool Problem with this tune,is that it sounds like a complete work & I can't imagine adding anything to it? Huh The only additional instrumentation that comes to mind,is perhaps...Mario lending some of his ax-wizardry to this.
I have not collaborated in a long while and I miss doing it,so regretfully I must decline...as this tune is out of my comfort zone anyway, and I think I would only taint it and why wreck a song that is already a fine work? Sad Wink

That's fine Thom.
As I am not sure what is expected for this project I thought I would start off with something relatively comfortable for myself to finish if need be.
I am open to giving any contributions to other compositions so let's see what you guys can come up with.
I'll start off another, when time allows, leaving more space for adds.

Thanks for listening.

Just uploaded a new version with added drums, lap-steel and Nashville strung guitar.
Still mix work to do but would like opinions.

Much fuller. A suggestion (if you don't mind). The intro is pretty much all in the same frequency space. It might be an idea to find a way to highlight a lead 'thread' some how.

Always open to suggestions.
As I've listened a bit more I've decided that the lap-steel, particularly in the intro, needs to be reworked or changed and the main vocal needs to be re-done.
There has been no indication as to deadlines for this project but will get this one wrapped up soon and move on.
Thanks.

New revised version up.
Re-did main vocal and replaced lap-steel with acoustic guitar.
I think it works better for this one.
Let me know?

Yes definitely better. Also the percussion seems to sit better in the mix.

Thanks.
Appreciate the comments.
I'm looking though my spare parts box to see if I have something else to get everyone involved with.

Made a few mix changes and finalised.
I think this one is wrapped up now, unless anyone hears a glaring fault.

 Huh
Forget it.
Tried to upload 3 times and each time failed.
Try again tomorrow.
 Sad

Final version is now up.
The one I couldn't upload was a full-strength WAV file and it was rejected each time so I've had to send an MP3.
Don't know why as it was well within the upload limit.

Not a fan of the drum track(& this track is unnecessary in my opinion)...but otherwise a good piece of work. Cool

Thanks for the comments, Thom.
really wanted a drum track in this as, in my mind, I heard it with an Eagles type of sound.
I also wanted the drums to be very simple just to tie things together so I got out the old Yamaha pad set and sticks and did it myself the old fashioned way.
If you would like to replace it feel free to take the first version and put your drums to it, if you think it could work better.
Or, let me know and I can send a drumless mix.
