You are in a smoky blues bar drinking and listening to a local blues band.

This is my version of Donna Evans' Bottom Dollar Blues.

I am singing and playing the slide, bass, and lead guitars.  Band-in-a-Box is supplying the drums (which I slightly modified to better fit the song) and the Electric Piano.

I hope you like this.

You can hear it here:

Bottom Dollar Blues by Donna Evans

Verse 1
She’s a candy red hot
Fire whiskey, tequila shots
She’s waitin’ for me at the bar
Spends my money like a wild fire
Think I’m scorin’ but I lose
Got the bottom dollar blues

Verse 2
Hopin’ she’s my Lucky Star
She plays me like a lotto jar
We cruise and smooze around
My ticker tape’s runnin’ down
Then some final rounds of pool
Goes my bottom dollar blues

Bridge
Sunday church I’m confessin’
Can’t seem to learn my lesson
Party girls and booze
Give me the bottom dollar blues

Verse 3
She always reeves my engine
Sparing an intervention
I’m addicted to the night life
We live the weekends right
For her I’ll be the fool
With the bottom dollar blues

Optional Chorus
I got the bottom dollar blues
Think I’m scorin, but I lose
For her, I’ll be the fool
With the bottom dollar blues

Most excellent, Mario.
This is right up my street, buddy.
Sounds like you are channelling Mr Cohen with that vocal.
This has to be my favourite of yours. It has all the elements of a 'natural' sound.
Just what I like!
Glad I popped in.

That's rather odd. I thought I'd commented on this but there's nothing there Sad
Anyway, I enjoyed it and think it created a great atmosphere of a run-down bar peopled by dropouts and drunks, with some poor guy in the corner wondering how he ended up here.

Good take on the downtrodden,in America's watering holes.I avoid bars altogether these days,so I don't suffer the same fate(never had a problem with booze, but with regard to women...that's a whole other kettle of worms.)

Thanx Thom for listening and commenting.

I also do not like bars.  That was one of the reasons for me to play in wedding bands since the early 70's. Way to many problems start in bars, especially today.

I have never had problems with women and in fact we have been married for almost 51 years now.  Beer, well that is another story.  I'm not one to get drunk every night but I do like a good beer now and then.
