Who? Me?

I wonder what people here are planning for the holiday period.

I'll be spending Christmas day itself at my sister's place. We have a fairly traditional one (My other sister and her husband also usually come along) and it makes for a very pleasant and relaxed time to catch up with all the family gossip, along with the obligatory Ohh and Ahh at the latest batch of photos of the grand kids.

Because of the way my (remaining) work days align, I will then have an unusually long unbroken holiday through to January the 7th Smiley

My car has just had it's winter service, so if the weather holds up that will give me the opportunity to reacquaint myself with some the more distant walks that I like.

We have Christmas day here with my one brother and a few in-laws.  Last Saturday we had Christmas with my other brother as he goes to his in-laws for Christmas day.

On New Year's Eve we go to our nephew's house for a big drinking celebration.  Thankfully he only lives a block away!  I DO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE!  but I do walk drunk  Grin

Merry Christmas to my christian friends and Happy Holidays to my other friends.

Not much going on here at Fraser Towers.
We've gone long past revelling these days. Mostly just treat it like any other day.

Youngest daughter with her 3 year-old is coming down from Edinburgh for a few days before Christmas but going back on Christmas Eve as they are travelling out to Italy on Boxing Day to the in-laws.
Christmas Day itself we will be going to see the older daughter and her (almost) 7 year-old, but only for an hour or two.
That about sums things up, really. We don't do any socialising as we are getting too reclusive for that now.

I been treating myself to a couple more new instruments and have far too much new music going on here.
I always feel guilty sharing it here at K-M now as, mostly, it doesn't need any other input and that feels like 'showing off' which I'm never comfortable with.

I felt as if I had been slowing down this year but had a shock when I came to compile my annual collection.
Each year-end I put together a double CD album of stuff for the girls. When I collated things last week to put it all together I amassed 32 tracks, to fill the 2 CD's, and found that I could have made a third!
So much for slowing down!
Anyway ...
Best festive wishes for all.

And from beautiful British Columbia (Canada) ...

It promises to be quiet over the holiday. My adult son and his GF are coming out from Calgary for a few days, but we'll not see much of them due to them going off for skiing Smiley So, pretty much just the old folks (me and my wife) to mind the homestead.

On a different note, I'll be playing at the local old folks home this weekend with some friends. Got the trusty old accordion out ... paired with a uke player and a flutist we should be the number one attraction.

Now, if I can get my $*(*#4 Presonus Audiobox USB working I'd be really happy (sorry, that's a different topic!).

I hope to get a new release of MMA out before the new year ... standby!

Best to all, you're a great bunch!

I will be going to my brother's house for the holidays as usual(as there simply is nowhere else for me to go.) Otherwise...there would be no reason to celebrate the season,as I have no one,in my town.

+James...

Sharing music on K-M,has always been much more, than just receiving input on one's own songs.K-M isn't about "showing off"...but rather, just merely sharing one's own creations for others to enjoy.
I'm not trying to make you feel obligated to share what you do not wish to share, but your reasons for not doing so,is quite nonsensical. Huh That's like saying that any musician who plays in front of an audience,is just a show-off.
I think perhaps, there is some other hidden, underlying reason why you have pulled back some,in recent years(such as what a bummer K-M has been, with so many absent members?)

Anyhow....happy holidays to all!

Thom ....
way off the mark, my friend.
Having been here since it's inception I can tell you that KM was set up as a collaborative site where members could interact with others in co-operative projects. The whole idea was constructive music sharing.
I would be more than happy to post my songs here more regularly BUT the majority of them do not need other input.
The other, possibly bigger reason, is that the bulk of stuff I do these days ends off in a (very small) commercial environment so it would be unfair to my other collaborators for me to share those projects outside of that environment.
And as for pulling back .... I can tell you that, as a dedicated member and moderator here, I actually check in EVERY day, when possible, to make sure that things are running smoothly.
For anyone who is interested in the full body of my work you could check it out here:
https://www.soundblend.com/store/artist/offthewall

To be honest this is a poor store-front as all music can be listened to without restriction which doesn't actually encourage listeners to buy!
Anyway ....
Best wishes to ALL my friends here.

Well I survived Grin
Had an excellent (but somewhat tiring) day, and a generally feel-good week since.
I'm currently clearing many years of accumulated crud. I was shocked by how many packing cases I had up in the attic... for gear I had long sine got rid of Roll Eyes

What's everyone else been up to?

After a few parties between Christmas and New Years I did a little R&R.  Now I am in process of backing up all of our computers and taking down Christmas decorations.  Whoops, I forget to mention working on my old truck.  One more problem and to the junkyard it goes. But what the hell it has served me well. After all it is a 1997 GMC.
