I did a gig a couple of weeks ago ... and just about EVERYTHING went wrong! Did get a few recordings and figured I'd post one here as an example for others on what not do Smiley

Problems:
   - I didn't do a proper sound check with the vocalist BEFORE the concert. We were assured that all was fine, only to find that  her mic was going though the same amp as the piano.
   - Her mic stand kept sagging. No fun to keep chasing that!
   - No monitors. I could barely hear the e-piano, just heard a bit from the tiny builtin speakers.

So, that's all on me. I do know better!

I'm posting this mostly to show that if you know your charts, know how to play, etc. you can still do pretty decent stuff.

The gal I'm playing with is doing piano and vocals. We've be practicing for just over a year now and are really starting to pay attention to each other. On a positive note, at least the sax is loud!

Oh dear! I feel your pain.
We all have horror stories like this when playing live. You just has to take it on the chin and learn from it. You quickly learn to get concerned when the venue says it has all the necessary gear... without telling you exactly what it is Roll Eyes

On the bright side, from what I can hear your singer has a nice voice Smiley

Yeah ... just what I need in my life: Hauling more crap around to gigs that pay little or nothing Smiley But, at least I'll be famous Smiley

Thanks.

As far as your playing problems, been there done that!

You still did an excellent job on the song.

Do you know that a musician is?
It is a person who puts 5,000 dollars (USD) in a 500 dollar car and drives 50 miles for a 50 dollar gig!

Thanks. Now, if I can only earn another $5000 I can buy more gear and surely I'll be 2x as good Smiley

OOPS Big typo on my last message.  It should read:

Do you know that a musician is?
It is a person who puts 5,000 dollars (USD) of gear in a 500 dollar car and drives 50 miles for a 50 dollar gig!
