Here are a couple of great free synths:

1- K1V : https://www.nilsschneider.de/wp/nils-k1v/

This one is a replica of the Kawai K1 series of hard synths. It comes with all of the ROM cards installed. It comes in Mac, PC, and Linux versions. I have the original K1M and this is a very good emulation. Note as in those early K1 8 bit synths there is no volume control. Also you can not add MIDI control to the joystick, you must use the mouse, which I think is unfortunate but it is free.

2- Serenity : https://quietmusic.eu/serenity

Serenity is an excellent ambient pad synth that you can use alone or with some nice included sound effects like bird, waves, rain, etc. I will be using this one a lot. This is for Mac and PC only.

I think you will enjoy both.

Note that both come in VST, VST3, and AU formats. Also both are clean for viruses and malware.
