Will,
I'm trying to find some time to look at this.
Could you let me know the chord sequence to save me a bit of 'messing about'.
Thanks

Oops. Nearly missed this Undecided

verses 1, 2 & 4
C(2), Dm(1), Dm(2), Em(1), C(1), C(2), Dm(1), Bdim(2), C(2), Dm(1), Em(2), F(1), Em(1), Bdim(2), C(1) - 2 bars

verse 3
F(1), F, Bb, F, C(1), C(2), Dm(1), F, C(2), Dm(1), Em(2), F(1), Em(1), Bdim(2), C(1) - 2 bars

The bracketed terms are the chord inversion.

You'll see the 3rd verse lines up with the others on its 9th bar.

P.S. dunno how to get a 'flat' symbol

okay  Cheesy

Let us know what you think of this

Azell asked me to tell you 2 things
If you compose for windplayers please consider 2 things
> Give them some air from time to time  Grin
> When you put accidentials in your melody don't make them too short, the air has to have a change to flow...

You turn now James  Cool

playing is good, and timing much smoother than my line. I can see the problems with some of my 'twiddles', but then the only wind instrument I've ever played (not well) was a penny whistle which can respond much faster of course.

I had tried to leave some breath space, but obviously not enough, or in the wrong places Sad

But, erm, I thought we were going with the clarinet  Huh That's the flutiest clarinet I've ever heard  Shocked

Great.

You've got lots of clear 'headroom' so please feel free to fill it Smiley

P.S>
We can fight with kara about the clarinet later Grin

We'll see how it works out...

OK.....first try!

I've simply taken Kara's version and tried to compliment Azell's beautiful 'clarinet' playing.
What I would like to do (when I can find the time) is to have an extended version, maybe twice as long, and put in a 'Marc Knopfler' style guitar....way in the background with loads of 'verb......!
Anyway....this is today's quick version!

The sound of the whistle works well in the mix (still think we need a clarinet though), and I see the outline you are following, but I wonder if the piece is actually too slow or indistinct, as you seem rather hesitant. Would a click track or line help do you think? Mind you I'm probably being a bit unfair as it's your first shot at an unfamiliar tune.

I would like to hear a Knopfler style guitar backing this. That would be really good.

How would you envisage it being extended, repeat verses or new variations?

P.S.

I consider myself fortunate that nobody will ever hear my first attempt at the original melody Tongue
