Title: SMPRO V-Machine
Post by: Moon on August 25, 2011, 07:07:17 PM
I've noticed that Thomann currently sells the SMPRO V-Machien for only 199 euro. When reading on forums, apparently not everybody is happy with the unit. Most concerns are the noisy outputs, limited CPU power and lack of userfriendlyness (installing software). I was wondering if anyone ever used this device?

Anyone ?

No experience with it but in the past I've thought about getting something like this or similar machines (such as the Receptor). The main reasons I'm sticking with a laptop is that the combination of ease of use, compatibility and running of multiple pieces of software such as a sequencer and VST's and VSTi's is way superior on a 'real' computer. That is not to say that these boxes don't have their place, but I feel they're most suitable to someone who runs mainly hardware instruments but wants to add one or two VST's/VSTi's to their setup.

Having said that, the price level of this one is just amazing.
