It must be a couple of years now since I posted 'An Enchanted Valley' on here with the following blurb:
"In the Scottish highlands there is a valley that hides a castle in shrouds of early morning mist so high and thick not even the turrets show. As the sun burns away the mist the castle, moat and hamlets slowly emerge in all their glory. I've seen this once, but could never find the valley again."
Well, while I was recovering from my Opp. I had another look at it. However I decided that there were so many technical problems with the original that the best thing would be to start completely from scratch. To my surprise it has now taken a rather different direction, so this version is called 'Another Enchanted Valley'. It is still a bit rough around the edges and abrupt in places so suggestions are welcome.

Beautifull chord progression which matches those choir voices, I like it The cello lines don't feel right to me, or rather they are right but to short. In some spots it sounds as the cello don't know if he should play or not Extending them a bit would sound better I think k

Thanks Rony. I think you are right. In the last part it forms the 'response' part of a call-response sequence, but in it's own part there is no 'call' so it's a bit out of place.
I must find a way of expanding it without losing the last section.

Well in response to Rony, and commentators elsewhere I have made some changes. Both lead lines have been developed more, and the oboe has been replaced by a bassoon. I've also delayed the introduction of the bass by 4 bars, as it was tending to mask the introduction of the 'Mmmm' choir.
Apart form that, just some level balancing and general tweaking. I hope you like the result.
As always, comments welcome.

This is another wonderful version, Will. When I get some time ( ) I would love to join in with this one, if you don't mind. What do you think? James

Thanks again guys. @James Mind? I'd only mind if you didn't work with it because you thought I'd object! @Oren Very nice music on there. I don't think I'm quite up to that standard @Rony It was your initial comments that started me on the improvements - thanks!

Will, I finally got round to playing with this one. I hope you don't mind me 'taking liberties' ? Let's see what a couple of days brings. Would you mind if it were extended? James

Will, a couple of things. Have you thought about a short 'bridge' with a change of chords, then a reprise of the main themes? Is it possible for you to send me the midi file for the 'lead' instrument (bassoon, I think) as I may have something which could work better. If that is possible could you also send me the tune 'without' that lead part? James

I was just going to reply to your previous post and another pops up I hadn't thought of doing a bridge, no reason why not. Do you actually have something in mind yourself? If the 'yourfilelink' host works well enough (I just used it for the review files), I could do the same sort of thing and split out all the parts/verses. No problem getting the MIDI file for the Bassoon part and Bassoon-less ogg, I'll get on to that this evening.

Just downloading now .... seems to be OK, once you realise that most of the 'links' are actually to download some sort of cr*p .... the real files are in 'very small' letters. I have some strange ideas for this piece. On the one hand it is very 'church-ish' ... but then again could be rather 'electric'. Haven't quite decided yet. However, I do have a (windows only) VST which could give exactly the right sound for the lead instrument ..... we shall see Thanks for allowing, etc. James

Hmmm. I'm slightly confused now, cos I don't know which download you are referring to Still, I'm sure it will all work out eventually
