Yeah, old. Sounding like my parents!
I was reading an article in TapeOp magazine about the band Xiu Xiu. Okay, I'll be the first to admit that I don't consider them to be the most talented musicians in the world, nor that I consider much experimental music to be "music" ... on the other hand, they have gigs and tour (unlike me!). But, I'm reading and come across this quote from the band's founder:
I can't put across the emotion I want to by fingering a
chord because I can't play well enough. But I can try
to glue an array of smashy peeps together in a way
that creates that feeling.
So, instead of learning his craft, which I figured would be to create music and/or learn to play a guitar (better) ... instead he patches discordant sounds together.
I guess there is a reason I don't have many gigs or tour ... or care.
