In lack of some inspiration, Marc sugested to start listening to some music and try to create something starting from that. Looking for some great music, I've stumbled on D*Note. : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TbFTYTyVcis

This dates from 2001. Aside from the video clip: this is a great rhythm, great sounds glued together with simple yet powerful lyrics.

If someone recognizes the chords, please let me know.

I don't like the first, I find it very basic and school, I prefer that of Oren, but "each his own taste"
for me, I like this:

This is a nice thread! It's cool to see what everyone likes. I would find it hard to choose so I'll hope you'll excuse me when I post three tracks that are inspiring to me.

First of all, a relatively new singer, Jessie J who does an amazing vocal performance here: http://youtu.be/vAaos80oPqg.

Secondly, I could probably list any Depeche Mode song here, but this one is a real good example of their use of electronics, guitar and haunting vocals by Dave Gahan: http://youtu.be/YDAXl05rJNQ.

And lastly, I've become a big fan of Imogen Heap. Her vocals and amazing use of acoustic, electric and electronics instruments make her one of the most innovative and creative artists I know: http://youtu.be/ax84xcaLfHs.

Of course, there's also Jarre, Oldfield and Alan Parsons - but currently the above ones are more intersting to me.

but when I think about Rony this is that touches me the most

Le Tunnel d'Or de AaRon

Couplet 1
Regardes il gèle là sous mes yeux
Des stalactites de rêves trop vieux.
Toutes ces promesses qui s’évaporent
Vers d’autres ciels, vers d’autres ports.
Refrain :
Et Mes rêves s’accrochent à tes phalanges
Je t’aime trop fort, ça te dérange,
Et Mes rêves se brisent sur tes phalanges
Je t’aime trop fort mon ange, mon ange
Couplet 2
De mille saveurs, une seule me touche
Lorsque tes lèvres effleurent ma bouche.
De tous ces vents un seul m’emporte
Lorsque ton ombre trace à ma porte.
Couplet 3
Prends mes soupirs, donnes moi des larmes,
A trop mourir, on pose les armes.
Respire encore mon doux mensonge,
Que sous ton souffle, le temps s’allonge.
Couplet 4
Seul sur le sol, en équilibre,
Mes poumons pleurent, mon cœur est libre,
Ta voix s’efface de mes pensées
J’apprivoiserai ma liberté.

@ Marc, hi,
Depeche Mode of course, I'm ok with you
Jessie J, I had never heard. Pretty voice, a little too much tremolo and grimaces, to my taste.
Imogen Heap, I really like. It's very sweet, soaring. I do not understand the words but the sounds are very nice.

 Cool
I just had a glance at a couple of these suggestions ...

Really impressed by 'Moriarty'  ... as proposed by Azell.
I love the instrumentation line-up. Just my style  Cool

Let's go back to 1983 with some great names involved: music written by Jon Anderson an Vangelis, produced by Quincy Jones and a great voice. Up to date, this is still one of the most powerfull songs I know. Don't forget, 1983... so no special electronics involved: a live band, a bunch of people and a perfect voice...
