Here’s my January KVR entry, “Winter Sun”. I decided to see what would happen if I worked on my keyboard skills. I just about gave up on it a week ago, but I’m real happy how it turned out.

Yes it turns out pretty well I would say It's a nice tune, well written. This is an outstanding new direction you've found, mi amigo. The percussive keyboard sounds backed by that constant pedal high-hat - crisp! And then that lovely flute... You take to this style of music production like a duck to water (spectacular photo, too)

If you have a poem, I have a tune, and we exchange these, we can both have a poem, a tune, and a song. - Will

Sometimes it helps to put myself in a different sort of box. So many keys..so little time.

Wyatt,
I really enjoyed the tranquil, low key drum track...very soothing...& the melody is lovely.I was however, anticipating a transition from what I perceived to be an intro,to a theme....so to my ears,it just sounded like one big intro. It also sounded to me,that all of the instrumentation was Reason patches & no real guitars? If so,I think a few of the riffs in this song could benefit greatly from some quantizing. My best wishes towards the contest. -Thom

No guitars// ..that was the point this month for me. Excuse my poor quantize button..I do have one..but I never take the poor little fellow out for a walk. I do love quirky timing and it gets even quirkier when I'm attempting to play keys. L'homme dans la machine! My best wishes towards the contest. Thank you.

It does speak of a crisp winter day, maybe with a touch of warmth and its attendant promise of spring. This piece gently speaks of a welcome, 'peace of mind.' It could definitely be the intro to another piece. It's neat the way the hi-hat/percussion fades toward the end, leaving 'strings' and flute.

My dear friend ..... this is one of the finest things I have heard from you ... on so many levels Sorry I only just got round to listening .... it has certainly been MY loss. Everything about this, from the composition to the instrumentation to the production is just so ...... After numerous listens I have decided that if I were a producer of an American TV drama series (something like Everwood, for example) I would be commissioning this piece for the theme music. (but please don't hang up the strat ) James

Everything about this, from the composition to the instrumentation to the production is just so ...... I am so glad you liked it that much, brother. It was an amazing process. I was about to just give up 10 days into it, but then I woke up with an idea and managed to surprise even myself. After numerous listens I have decided that if I were a producer of an American TV drama series (something like Everwood, for example) I would be commissioning this piece for the theme music. Wow..now what a beautiful compliment that is. Thank you so much, friend.(but please don't hang up the strat ) James Yeah..you got that right. I don't know that I could repeat this piano business.
