Title: With new baritone guitar. Post by: offthewall on May 10, 2016, 08:26:44 PM About 5 years back I found this acoustic baritone guitar (I posted on here at the time) which was converted from an acoustic bass.
This was a full bass size (34" scale) and had a fabulous sound. I have used it well over the years but now that my arthritis is getting worse I can't handle it any longer. So, last week, I came across this little baby: https://youtu.be/OUf_7SD_y00 (https://youtu.be/OUf_7SD_y00) which is a short-scale parlour size BARITONE ! Yes, it is tiny but I can't believe the depth of sound that it produces. As it happens my old friend, Joel Sattler, dropped me this set of quirky lyrics (you know I'm a sucker for quirky) which I felt would give the ideal test outing for this new instrument. Backed up by a standard acoustic, to give some crispness, plus bodhran and tambourine, I think this is a reasonable showcase. ;) James Title: Re: With new baritone guitar. Very strange song - you seem to be doing a lot of these lately. Title: Re: With new baritone guitar. Post by: offthewall on May 11, 2016, 08:47:36 PM Thanks for the listen, guys.
Yes, Will ... I'm always drawn towards quirky and strange lyrics. Must have something to do with the fact that I tend to 'hear' vocals as another instrument rather than being able to follow the story. I have this sort of blank spot where I actually can't follow lyrics unless I'm reading them. When just listening they blend in to the music, to me. I got hundreds of 'strange songs' kicking about. >:D |
