Another one from my “things I should really finish” archives. This initially had a sax lead that I was not happy with so I changed it to a flute.
This one has a title, Why Doesn’t the Roof Leak on a Warm Sunny Day Blues. One February day I spent approximately four hours up on my roof chipping away at an ice dam the was melting and ruining my ceiling. I came in dead tired, sat down at the computer and did this one. I hope you like it.

I like this. Smooth playing and a nicely balanced mix. Got that organ in the background just right.

Yeah......but.... wrong key for most penny-whistles. Emaj is the boss for blues guitar, but not for the old PW. If you transpose the whole shebang down a notch into D.....then we could get cooking! James

James, thanx for offering your help on this.
You asked for it so here is the song in the key of D sans the flute.
Just play what you want and post it. I’m sure if you like it I will also.
Have fun and thanx again – MarioD
PS- if I can help and/or change something feel free to ask.

Mario, You're going new places with the guitar. Sounds good! Internet collaborations have been taken to new heights on this site. Any tips you want on how to get the best results, just ask. And beware of James - he's addictive... Oren.

No not new places really. I’m just trying to get as good as I once was! I doubt I’ll ever get there. Thanx for the offer. If I need help and/or want advice I will ask for sure. Thanx for the James warning I’m sure his playing will improve the song. MarioD

Mario, Been busy this weekend, but I'll try to get something done tomorrow. And......I been in the 'folk music' world too much lately, so I was wrong about the key! With a blues scale the D whistle plays fine along with your original E version.....so I'll just noodle with that. James

James, there is no rush on this so do it only when you have the time.
If you would like I could send you the E version sans the flute.
Just let me know - MarioD

Mario, Here is a little noodle. I just played around your original flute line with some 'Q&A' style for a bit of fun. I have to admit that, with the whistle, I'm more at home in a melody situation rather than this sort of freeform thing, but I will always rise to the challenge. That's how I learn and also what I love about this place. As it happens, I'm like you. An old time guitar player who lapsed and is trying to get it back. The trouble that I have with it is the arthritis in the fingers now, so I'm taking it slow and using the whistle to get some exercise into the old joints. Enjoyed this! Thanks, James

James, I liked what you did with this, especially the Q&A during the guitar leads. Great stuff.
I would love to hear what you would do with the melody sometime if you have the time. I think you could do a fantastic job replacing my flute part!
I hear you about the arthritis. I get it in my left thumb at times. That makes playing very hard. I use Glucosamine Complex & Chondroitin Sufate and MSM, both from Swanson Health Products, to keep in under control.
Thanx for improving this - MarioD
