Title: Granfather's Music Box (soundtrack) Post by: Northern_Fist on May 16, 2007, 05:48:51 PM This is my first composition with the "Philharmonik Miroslav" library. I still have so much to learn, but I'm getting my feet wet with more symphonic production. This is my second attempt at something mostly symphonic.
Grandfather's Music Box (putfile) (http://media.putfile.com/Grandfathers-Music-Box) I made the music box melody on the piano many months ago, but never did anything with it until now. Title: Re: Granfather's Music Box (soundtrack) Post by: Daniel Pompougnac on May 16, 2007, 06:28:19 PM I like it !
I must make a long travel tomorrow. I listen it again in my car. Nice. Daniel Title: Re: Granfather's Music Box (soundtrack) Post by: Frederik on May 17, 2007, 08:24:23 PM Very nice melodical lines and soothing harmonies...

Symphonic writing is something I keep threatening try ;) You've done a good job with this, several nice touches. There's a lot of choice freedom in this genre....what you pick for melodies, accompanying instruments, dynamics, on and on. Its interesting to hear how it develops from the composer. Title: Re: Granfather's Music Box (soundtrack) Post by: Northern_Fist on May 21, 2007, 03:54:24 AM Thanks for the replies, people. I feared that I might have milked the part where the "music box" is suppose to slow to a close, but so far no complaints there... yet.

Sorry I didn't get to hear it. Wyatt Title: Re: Granfather's Music Box (soundtrack) Post by: Laguna Rising on May 21, 2007, 06:58:05 PM Hi Northern Fist
Very good !!! I like the many soft melodies, and I think you arranged it very well When making orchestral arrangements we usually have a tendecy to exaggerate and adds double and triple lines on everything, piling up instruments, this is a sober one (of course in a positive way). Well done Cheers Title: Re: Granfather's Music Box (soundtrack) Post by: blipp on May 21, 2007, 08:52:42 PM Very serene, i like it. This sounds like it could be used in a film, it has a very emotional and visual quality. Very convincing orchestration.

this is great! I enjoyed a lot the part with the music box and the soloing instrument (violin and oboe). I missed some more bass frequencies to make the whole strings ensemble sounds warmer and deeper, less "dry". Anyway, superb! bye mag Title: Re: Granfather's Music Box (soundtrack) Post by: Mellotronaut on May 30, 2007, 06:10:10 PM Beautiful work!
Nice idea with the musicbox, quite nostalgic. m |
