Title: Granfather's Music Box (soundtrack)
Post by: Northern_Fist on May 16, 2007, 05:48:51 PM
This is my first composition with the "Philharmonik Miroslav" library. I still have so much to learn, but I'm getting my feet wet with more symphonic production. This is my second attempt at something mostly symphonic.

Grandfather's Music Box (putfile) (http://media.putfile.com/Grandfathers-Music-Box)

I made the music box melody on the piano many months ago, but never did anything with it until now.

Very nice NF!

Symphonic writing is something I keep threatening try  ;)  You've done a good job with this, several nice touches.

There's a lot of choice freedom in this genre....what you pick for melodies, accompanying instruments, dynamics, on and on. Its interesting to hear how it develops from the composer.

Thanks for the replies, people.  I feared that I might have milked the part where the "music box" is suppose to slow to a close, but so far no complaints there... yet.

It wouldn't play on my computer.

Sorry I didn't get to hear it.

Hi Northern Fist
Very good !!!
I like the many soft melodies, and I think you arranged it very well
When making orchestral arrangements we usually have a tendecy to exaggerate and adds double and triple lines on everything, piling up instruments, this is a sober one (of course in a positive way).
Well done

Cheers

Very serene, i like it. This sounds like it could be used in a film, it has a very emotional and visual quality. Very convincing orchestration.

Hi NF,

this is great! I enjoyed a lot the part with the music box and the soloing instrument (violin and oboe).
I missed some more bass frequencies to make the whole strings ensemble sounds warmer and deeper, less "dry".
Anyway, superb!
