I got a song here that might fit the respect theme. It's in need of some assistance. 'Looking Back (to move on)' The song: I live in a traditionally industrial area which has declined over the last 30 years due to the demise of engineering , shipbuilding and mining. There has been a real struggle recently to attempt some regeneration of the town. I often do work with my local regeneration group. A recent project of theirs known as ‘Images for change’ saw a group of local residents taking photographs of the decline and comparing these with old pictures of the area and getting anecdotal evidence from their older generations about how their past experiences could help the future. This project was named ‘Looking Back to Move On’. The collaboration: What I would like is; A good drum track, Harmonica on the intro and outro, A second guitar in the middle break to counterpoint the first guitar, Two harmony vocals for certain phrases. The whole thing to have an ‘Eagles’ sort of style. What do you think? Any offers? James

Good song, thoughtful content. Very much in line with the Respect theme. Put me down for some harmony vocal action (unless somebody comes along who can actually sing... ) I can also twist up a drum track for you in Hydrogen. I have to warn you, though: with me on board it's going to sound a lot more like Neil Young than The Eagles Go, James

If you can't find a real harp player, I'll give it a shot on the Synthophone. (if you'd like)

Very good thought-provoking song. I don't think there is much I could do to help, besides I'm still working on our other one

Great, when I get time, over the next few days, I'll upload the basic track without drums and electric guitar to a folder on the K-M FTP space. Anyone who wants to have a go can take it from there and return their offerings to the same folder. Thanks. James

OK folks, the stuff is up there. If you don't have the password, PM me for it. If you make any contributions please make them the same length as the original and saved as individual tracks so I can line them up and mix. James

James, May we have a beats-per-minute number? My drummer insists in such trivialities....

Oren, I don't know if you noticed that I also uploaded a lyric sheet and chord chart/layout. The bpm is on that. 130 James

OK, here is take 2. Oren has supplied a drum track. I'm still looking for: Harmonica on the intro and outro, (although I'm hoping for Wyatt when he has time) A second guitar in the middle break to counterpoint the first guitar, Two harmony vocals for certain phrases. The whole thing to have an ‘Eagles’ sort of style. All bearing in mind that I have more 'work' to do on my vocals, and I may chop some guitar out to accommodate any extra players I can get. Any help out there? James

James, You did a good job of editing the drums to fit the song! Because the the song already had a live "folk" feel, I programmed the percussion to further this theme. However, true to my admonitions, it's sounding more like Neil Young than the Eagles . There are still a few spots where the solid meter of the synthetic percussion conflicts slightly with the tempo of the other instruments. Individual hits in the drum track could simply be removed at those points to improve the flow even more. Remember, he/she is a folk drummer, and will frequently pause to take a drink or throw a flower to the audience.....

Neil young every time I hear James, I get a mental picture of Bob Dylan with his guitar You're doing a great job on this song. I'm afraid I won't be of any help here, I don't play harp and Azell only sings in french, sorry k
