There has been some talk about jazz on another thread so I thought I would show you how I’m practicing jazz.  I brought the song Sentimental Journey into Band-in-a Box and regenerated it using RealTracks. I brought the song into Sonar and eliminated the melody and played a different melody so I could post it. This is basically one pass with just a couple of measure’s punch ins and outs to replay some sloppy timing parts. I only did that because I knew I was going to post it; normally when I practice I don’t post.  Total time from start to finish was two and a half hours.

So the drums, piano and bass are Band-in-a-Box backing tracks and I’m playing the guitar.

I hope you like it for what it is.

Wow this sounds pretty good.
Besides that you have a very lazy piano player it sounds like a good live session.

Now, you never ever tell me that you don't know how to play jazz  Grin

Will, Oren and Kara - thanx guys for listening and the very kind reviews.

Kara – I did try to make it sound like a trio invited me to jam with them, hence the fact that I’m the only lead in the song. I played in wedding bands for years so I can play a little bit of most all styles, but I’m not really proficient in any one. As they say over here “a jack of all trades but a master of none”.  That’s me.

Mmmmm....this is one of the most enjoyable tunes from your Band-In-A-Box creations. 8)Your axe performance was 5 star, which really brings quite a bit of originality, for a tune that is mostly automated! Cheesy

A very interesting spin on an old jazz standard...I really enjoyed this...but for some reason,I am left with an urge to consume a martini. Wink

Thom, thanx for the 5 star rating; it is greatly appreciated.

Yep, this was a lounge type of song.  Enjoy your martini!

Thanx for the kind words bvdp.

Did you post your version?

Maybe we should do collaboration!  I bet Ronny and Azell would be interested in joining us.

No, I've not posted mine.

Collab would be fun. Guess I should start doing something like that. I usually just play with my band of one here.

Only real problem I have with collab is sending big files back and forth (I'm in a bit of broadband backwater), but so long as they are just mp3 size things, I'd be okay.

Let's talk about it ...

A hint : Use OGG files, not bigger then MP3 and almost the same quality as WAV !
