Mario’s Opus is my life, thus far that is, set to music.

This song contains Realtracks from Band-in-a-box, midi parts and myself.

I do not consider myself a singer in any way, shape or form so please take this into consideration.

The lyrics:

Mario's Opus

verse - When I was a young lad
I was going to be a star
   Travel all around the  world
   Playing my guitar

   So I practiced everyday
   Both rhythm and lead
   I could play anything
   that a band would need

verse - Then I joined a local group
   The best band around
we played a ton of gigs
   in all surrounding towns

just before we hit the road
   there was a big strife
   because our stupid ass drummer
took off with the bass players wife

chorus- Now that I'm older
      and dumb like a fox
      now my band is
      in a box

verse - I became a weekend warrior
   playing in a wedding band
got married and had a  kid
   everything was grand

   While playing a wedding job
a man said I can make you a star
he was an agent for a touring band
and yes he had a big cigar

verse- his group had an opening
they wanted me to play lead
but at this time of my life
   touring I didn't need

So I gave up my big dream
to take care of my family
it's something I do not regret
cause now I'm know though the internet

***chorus***

bridge – band in a  box is  great
   it's really really neat
for the first time in my life
I have a drummer that can keep a steady beat

   but there is one thing
that puts me in a funk
every time I have a couple of beers
the whole dam band gets drunk

                    Now that I'm older
      and dumb like a fox
      now my band is
      now my band is
      now my band is
      in a box

Mario,

Great country chops on this one,my friend...really enjoyed this one! Cool Colorful humor in the lyrics, tightly wound instrumentally, but a loose, kicked back & joyous atmosphere....a rip-roaring good time! Grin

Enjoyed this immensely! Love that last line, but look on the bright side - it's got to be the cheapest booze-up the band will ever go on  Grin

Thank you very much Azell, Thom and Will for listening and the extremely kind comments.

“but look on the bright side - it's got to be the cheapest booze-up the band will ever go on”  Will, you obviously have never seen me drink beer Wink

Wooah, Mario ....  Shocked

This is, indeed, the life story of so many of us 'young rascals'  Lips Sealed

Superb story telling and masterfully done, mon ami.  Kiss

If you ever want to re-work this without the 'box' I would love to join in.

Great stuff  wOO

(sorry I've taken so long to get to it ... too much real life)
