Title: Good News! Post by: folderol on October 14, 2018, 07:32:23 PM I've just been informed that someone has ported a version of Yoshimi to WebAssembly :- :;
This means you can now run it in a web browser. Currently it is for the Chrome browser only. As well as the virtual keyboard, you can play connected to a MIDI keyboard, and select all the standard banks and programs. No editing features are currently available. A link to the site is: https://webaudiomodules.org/demos/jariseon/yoshimi Title: Re: Good News! Post by: bvdp on October 15, 2018, 12:11:41 AM Okay! Very cool. I just went to the site with google chrome browser and it worked using my external synth. Easy peasy.
Wondering if there is a way to do this in firefox? Title: Re: Good News! Post by: folderol on October 15, 2018, 05:46:46 PM It's pretty nifty isn't it?
I don't think Firefox is possible as it needs WebAssembly (or something like it). However it does work in the Vivaldi browser, which has pretty much everything Firefox has - and more. The developer has been in contact and is considering a full-fat browser based GUI :) Title: Re: Good News! Post by: elwoodblues91 on October 26, 2018, 03:32:02 AM Interesting concept...but one of which I do not comprehend(much less even imagined was possible.)A web browsing synth doesn't really compute in my head. ???
Title: Re: Good News! Post by: folderol on October 28, 2018, 06:59:55 PM It does two things for Yoshimi and its users.
1 Makes the synth more visible to new people. 2 Allows an existing user to try out an idea with familiar sounds when out and about. |
