I just taught myself how to sample drum sounds from old recordings, and fashion them into a "drum kit" that will load into "Hydrogen".
All samples from an old movie soundtrack...

It may not be your cup of tea, Will, but certainly qualifies as a curiosity.
I have one in the works featuring home-brew samples from a drummer named Brian Tichy - that I hope will serve as a replacement for the classic (and now gone) "Ultra Acoustic Kit".
