Hi all,
I just did my first new song with the new Band in a Box Mac Version 2011. Very similar to the PC version, but with a few changes, so a pretty small learning curve. Anyway this is a little Jazz/Pop song I wrote last night called In The Middle. All the instruments are RealTracks/RealDrums, with the exception of a little midi brass and bells toward the end. Hope you enjoy!

Wow! Definitely one for the 'keep' box. Great song, and very full mix (without being cluttered). A small suggestion, set the ID3 tags so when we come across your songs again we recognise them

Another winner here Stephen Outstanding lyrics expertly sang with some very good backing tracks. You have BiaB down to a science! Your songs should be showcased by PG Music IMO. Two thumbs up!

Folderol,
Thanks so much for taking the time to listen, and for your very kind words! I will remember to tag the mp3's in the future.
Mario,
I really appreciate your kindness! I guess PG Music does showcase all our music, every time we post on their forum. I am always fascinated by how great a tool Band in a Box is, for musicians at really every level.
So good to hear from you! BTW, I do really enjoy hearing your music.
Steve

Reminds me of that razor-sharp Nashville cross-over country stuff - hot players who know how to craft a hit.

Je suis passée à coté de cette merveilleuse mélodie (car je ne comprends pas les paroles), ainsi que tous les instruments. Peux-tu mettre les paroles, pour que je puisse les traduire (avec google). I moved next to this beautiful melody, and all the instruments. Can you put the lyrics (because I do not understand), so I can translate them (with google). Thank you

Wonderful track, it's a great arrangement and you've got a great voice! Only thing that I would say is that it sounds a bit distorted in places. Maybe mix some of the channels a bit lower? Having said that, it all sounds brilliant (love that sax solo!).

Hi Azelle,
Thanks so much for your comments! Here are the lyrics...
In The Middle Words and Music, Copyright Stephen W. Young
The way you smile when you take my hand You make me be a better man The way you help me to understand Your love for me will never end The way you laugh when you tell a joke The simple way you say my name These are the things I remember the most And with you nothing is the same I am here in the middle of a dream come true with you And I can hardly imagine anything that I would rather do I look around, it is plain to see That you and I were meant to be My head is spinning and my heart is aflame Feels like I'm living in a dream I am here in the middle of a dream come true with you And I can hardly imagine anything that I would rather do

Thanks again!
Steve

Marc, Thank you so much for taking the time to listen and comment! I just did a quick remix on this one this morning. Been planning on redoing it for a while, but just never took the time. This is the first song I did when I got my Mac computer. I had been a PC/Sonar user for years. So this was a new experience (new baseline for sound, etc) for me, and I overcompressed this one in the process. You can give it another listen now if you wish (just download it again from the post above). Hopefully it will sound better now. Thanks again! Steve

Hey, another superb song. You certainly have some considerable songwriting skills, my friend. It's great to have you here in our little family. At risk of sounding cheeky ..... we have a whole boatload of musicians here. How about an experiment sometime? Why not try giving us one of your compositions to use as a collaboration? Send us an outline and we can get together with 'real' instruments and see if it compares with BIAB. Just for fun, of course James

Marc, Thanks so much! Glad you like the new mix! James, Thank you very much for your very kind words! It is nice to be a part of this family! I don't have a problem with you guys playing around with real instruments on my songs. If you have one that you would like to experiment with, just let me know, and I can put together a chord chart for you. (The main reason I use BIAB is for time's sake. I can write, record, and mix an entire song in a couple hours with BIAB. Certainly there are some limitations to what BIAB will do, but for a "quick and dirty" output of a song, I am very happy with it. ) Having said that, it would be nice to hear some "real live" musicians' interpretations of my songs. Thanks again for taking the time to listen and comment! Steve
