Even though my uncle is not critical about a traditional style of this music,I still made an attempt to give it that traditional "groove".
The first song I worked on was approved by the band,so hopefully they'll like this one as well..and I hope you all like this new track as well. Smiley

Thom,
this is certainly an improvement on the first piece. The bass is much better. It is much less 'static'.
For the other sounds that you are using, if you can find somewhere in your synth banks any authentic sounding instrumentation for *accordion*, *hammered dulcimer*, and *celtic harp* you are on to a winner. The way you are translating the backing voices is good.

James,

I'm relieved that you like this one better, because I really want to strive to do justice to this Scottish music,so your feedback means alot to me!

As for my synth banks,I do have a celtic harp sound-which I did fiddle with a bit,but I did'nt end up using it for this song, because I liked the 12 string guitar sounds better...at some point though,I will use the harp sound.
I believe I do have an accordion sound, but I'm not sure about the *hammer dulcimer*-I'll have to dig to find that one-if it exists in my keyboard.

Thanks,

Thom

Oh, yeah... Cool

That big bad bass line reminds me of those massive drums the marching pipe bands hammer away at - nice touch.

A suggestion:
At 1:30 you introduce a new accompaniment instrument that doesn't cut it like the rest of your instrumental choices. You might want to try replacing it with the sound you use at 3:13 - the segments are far enough apart so as not to sound too repetitive.

Sweet bit of work, Thom!

I read many enthusiastic comments on this one and they all say this track sounds better than the 1st one and I agree, although using these horrible headphones probably they shortened the gap making both sound a bit worse than what they really are, so at first I didn't heard so much difference.
Anyway the choice of sounds for this one is probably what make it sound more realistic and I certainly dig it

Cheers
