I finally finished the (first) vocal version of "Middle of the Street" with vocals by the inimitable crooner of KvR, Remco. (known as Emerald Tablet). I am eagerly expecting the vocals of Dave (known as mckenic on KvR) because that man can really sing in a jazzy, ethereal way too. I will then compile a second version of the track - I don't know if I'll use the same backing track or a more electronic-sounding one, I will decide when I have the second vocal track. For now, here it is, music/lyrics by me, singing by Remco! Enjoy and comments welcome! Lyrics
Carry me back home Through windy boulevards Over some polka-dot sky It's been a while and I've lost my way What a strange thing to say
We'll go Walking in the middle of the street On a lovely day Birds will greet us Singing "hey, I've seen you around before, 'round this deep blue bay"
Drive me through the town With the windows down On this springtime's first sigh Jasmin, primrose, and citrus bloom And a wide open room
We'll go Walking in the middle of the street On a lovely day Birds will greet us Singing "hey, I've seen you around before, 'round this deep blue bay"

I like the song. The vocal is very good. But in my ears the nylon guitar sounds unclean/distorted. Andreas

Hi T.O.,
I have a love hate relationship with this one. I love the song. The mix, progression and singing were very good.
I hated that static sounding interplay, i.e. it sounded a lot like an airline pilot talking to an air traffic controller – roger that – to me. The song is good enough to can stand on it’s own and it doesn’t need any effects like that. Maybe you could replace those with a melodic lead of some kind.
Remember these are just my thoughts. Others may like it as it is.

Hey Mario! Glad you like the song. The static-effected vocal is starting to piss me off too! I don't even know why I stuck it on this song, it was just something I did at the beginning and it just stayed till the end. I'm going to make a mix without it and post it here later, so that your relationship will only be "love" Thanks for you comments!

Thanks LR! My greatest inspiration are perhaps Prefab Sprout, so I like this laid-back, jazzy pop style and Remco's vocals are perfect for it. Glad you noticed the details, I was thinking that perhaps it didn't have enough details and that it needed some more instrumentation and stuff. But then I thought that would give it an over-produced sound and I didn't want that. So with your comment you solved my dilemma. It stays as it is!
