I noticed that the big plastic soda bottles I use have quite a nice sound to them so I took out a mic and hit and slapped one of them. The result is the following set of samples which I hereby offer for you all to enjoy! Wink

I'm still working on a Kontakt 3 instrument with these samples, once I have that I will put that up here, too. If you use another sampler and would like to create an instrument for that sampler based on these, contact me if you would like the full set which has a few additional slight variations and a higher sample rate.

Thanks! The 'Cymbal' is just the opening of the bottle and the hi-hat is a snippet of that sound - in effect being the only 'unplayable' sound from a real bottle. Smiley

These are a lot of fun. I hope you come up with more of them Smiley

They remind me of something I've not seen for very many years (mostly used to appear on talent shows or variety concerts).

This was actually called a bottlephone and was a set of glass bottles of different sizes hanging from strings and partly filled with water to give an chromatic instrument. Aprarently, the trick to keeping it in tune was to put a few drops of light machine oil in so the water didn't evaporate Smiley

Glad you like the samples! I've always wanted to do stuff like this so I may indeed do some more of my own samples.

Nice sounds, Marc!

I am sure I will find a place to use some of these.  Smiley

Very original. I collect many weird samples and I hope sometimes it'll fit one of my weirdest experiments  Roll Eyes

Cool! I'm working on the Kontakt instrument and I'm also pitching some of these way down - I have always liked the character a sound gets when it's slowed down. I'll upload the instrument shortly, at least if people here can use Kontakt 3 instruments?

Nope, that would only work in NI's Kontakt 3 sampler, sorry... You will have to build it in Reasons built-in sampler yourself. On the other hand, that will make the end result sound more unique to your sound. I think I'll publish some information though about the Kontakt 3 instrument I'm building though such as mapping information and stuff like that.
