Just out of interest.... I had a jam with the drummer, as bass players do, and this was the result. The take without the drums will be another thing altogether. It will take a lot more concentration to be sympathetic to the melody without the rhythm section. I'll try to get time tomorrow. James

Just out of interest.... The take without the drums will be another thing altogether. It will take a lot more concentration to be sympathetic to the melody without the rhythm section. I'll try to get time tomorrow. James Your direct response style of playing will be just the ticket, I'm sure. Thanks brother. Wyatt

Thanks a lot Mario! I appreciate your comments, man. Say why don't you lay a lead track into it and fade out the ending the way you're hearing it?? That would be cool. Wyatt OK Wyatt you asked for it I split your stereo wav into two mono wavs. I brought both the flute and your guitar closer to the center stage. I did not add a lead but I did add a rhythm guitar part at center stage. I played with your guitar volume, lowering it and bringing it into the forefront when I thought it was necessary. I also did a little cutting and pasting with your guitar part. I hope you like it.

Wow!..that's interesting, Mario. Being as used to this song as I am, this version is full of creative surprises. I'm fascinated with the difference a new element and a different sound stage can make..now the flute is more primary and the dream-stage is set. Thanks a lot! Wyatt

I’m glad you like it Wyatt.
I’m always leery when I mess with someone else’s material, especially something as good as this was to begin with.

I hear you, man. I know the feeling well. I am happy for folks to take this one where they will, because I was more or less out of ideas for it. Kara's comment about losing the drummer was an ear opener, and I have enjoyed hearing everyone's interpretations. Thanks for your contribution. Fun stuff. Wyatt

Wow! This has been taken in so many different directions it's like a kaleidoscope - hey, I can spell it right There are some great variations, which makes it very hard to pick a favorite

Mario, Your guitar strumming compliments Wyatt's piece quite well, but it begs even harder for a percussion track & bass track to tie everything together....if someone were to step in and lay down a very exotic rhythm track & bass track to put a different spin on this piece,it would make for yet another interesting direction for this song to go into,I think. -Thom

PS – the only time I have drummers in my dreams is if I’m having a nightmare lol Very nice ! I like the version without drums, but it could use some cymbals, hi-hat and percussion as well Nice dreamy atmosphere well done Cheers

Heya! I really appreciate all your comments and your enthusiasm too! There are so many different ways this song can go that I have been a bit bewildered..sooo.. I have been doing what I usually do when I am clueless as to what to do next..I think about it hard and then let it go..waiting for inspiration to strike.. Just yesterday on my way back from town an idea finally came in for a landing.. ..something I never considered before..startled me, actually.. ..I hope I can pull it off..and if I can, then I will start a thread for this song in the K-M Review section, and put out a call for help! Wyatt

Kara, I don't think I've ever heard a piece that better encapsulates the fragmented conciousness of a dream state...this by far,is a very fascinating interpretation of Wyatt's song and it's so artfully done! This is one of my all time favorites from you....a wonderful job on this one-WOW! -Thom

Wow thank you very much Thom I must admit that I'm very surprised with so good comments. I was in the middle of programming some new synth patches for my KM-review contribution and I needed a song to try them out... I asked Wyatt to send me the track without the drums to give a try and see how the patches sounded. The whole thing is actually played live on 2 keyboards and recorded in one take. If you listen carefully you can even spot some errors, because I don't have all the chords right (playing by ear) I actually didn't plan to post it, but sended it directly to Wyatt, and it was him that insisted to post it. Thank you Wyatt Anyway, thank you very much for this highly pleasant surprise. k Kara, I don't think I've ever heard a piece that better encapsulates the fragmented conciousness of a dream state...this by far,is a very fascinating interpretation of Wyatt's song and it's so artfully done!
