I did this one with my elcheapo $70 Kramer Strat with a whammy bar!

I hope you like it - MarioD

Once again, nicely done.

Hmmm, wasn't this the B side of a Shadows single?

... a loooooong time ago!

I don't know about the Shadows B side.  It was a hit on this side of the pond by the Ventures though.

Heya Mario,

Thanks for the memories..I remember these guys..used to have
an "LP" of them back when vinyl was high tech.

For a cheepie guitar, you're making it sound good!

I'm old enough to say, "we played it when it first came out"!!!

Nice job.  Very authentic.

Thanx Kara,

Actually I’ve just heard of the Shadows a couple of months ago when someone posted a guitar song over at PGMusic and someone else said that it reminded them of the Shadows.

I have a lot of Venture albums.  I’m going to start looking for some Shadows’ stuff soon.  It sounds like the Ventures and the Shadows played the same songs.

The Shadows did lots of covers of other groups, some times better, sometimes not so good and sometimes so similar it was hard to tell which was which. They started out as the backing group for Cliff Richard and were at first called The Drifters changing their name to avoid clashes with the USA Drifters. They also did some very smooth original stuff, such as 'Wonderful Land'.

My elder brother had quite a few ventures records so I got to hear them a lot as well.

I, too, was brought up with The Shads. My early guitar playing was all learnt from them. The Ventures were just 'some Americans' to us Brit kids at the time.  Roll Eyes

Thanx guys for the information.

I was brought up with the Ventures.  I learned a lot of their songs back in the good ol’ days!  I may do a few more of their songs soon.  I’ve gotten a lot of requests for them.

This stuff was just a tiny bit before my time. I recognize some songs by these artists, but not others.  This tune I didn't recognize..but I recognized that sound!  Nice job Mario. Wish my strat would sound like that..must be operator error..

That puppy was venturing Cheesy into "was that a real band?" territory. Convincing sounds, nicely deployed.

.............ok, ok, great guitar, too  Roll Eyes

Thanx rharv!

I do believe however that your strat sounds better than this one.  I’ve heard it.
