Title: KVR June - photograph
Post by: offthewall on June 10, 2012, 08:56:40 PM
 :-[
Been missing .... yes, I know ... apologies  :-X
Life is hectic building up to daughter's wedding on 23rd.
Apart from all the arrangements to make I am still frantically trying to get my soft finger-tips into shape to be able to perform up to a dozen songs in public for the first time in 40 years  :o :o

Anyway .... as part of that 'constructive therapy' I have made a song for this month where the theme is to be inspired by a supplied photograph.

The Girl.
The girl in the photograph I took that day
Was frightened to see I was going away
She stood there and hid her face behind her hand
Then suddenly turned and ran off down the sand.

But it wasn’t the last time for us
As I took my seat on that bus
I knew as I went on my way
That we’d be together one day.

We had been best of friends since we were in school
What I did not know then was that I was the fool
To be going away for so long, and so far
That she waited was all down to my lucky star.

But it wasn’t the last time for us
As I took my seat on that bus
I knew as I went on my way
That we’d be together one day.

As I travelled the country just making my way
I looked at that photograph every day
When I earned enough, maybe, to give her a life
I’d return to that picture and make her my wife.

But it wasn’t the last time for us
As I took my seat on that bus
I knew as I went on my way
That we’d be together one day.

Ibanez AEL20 acoustic guitar,
Encore nylon classical guitar,
ReaFir, ReaEq, BackStageEQone, GlaceVerb, Reaper V4.22.

I promise that I will be back next month to make up for my 'time off'.  :P

And ....

I had a very quick involvement with a collab, for this month.
This is a very prolific composer, from South Africa, who I have worked with in the past but has been out of commission for a while. He just came back into the fold asking for a singer so I offered my services.
I ended up singing and playing acoustic and electric guitar on a very nice little song.
All done in three days  :o

More hardening for the finger-tips  :P

James, loved “The Girl”!  Those are some fantastic lyrics!  You vocal was spot on and your picking was second to none.  Was this a true story? Super job all the way around.

“This Old Town” is another winner. To nit pick I think your vocal could be a tad louder.  I thought it was to far back in the mix.  Just my thoughts.

Thanks for listening guys.
Mario. I agree with you about This Old Town ... but it wasn't my mix. I think I would have done it differently. If I ever get time I may remix it myself  ::)
The Girl is not a true story (although almost). Just inspired by the picture. Strangely most of the entries so far must be SciFi B movie fans as they mostly see this poor girl as being attacked by aliens :o I suppose this modern synthesiser culture gives so much access to those sorts of sounds.

Anyway, video production will be popping up soon. Almost finished.  :-X

James
ps ... can't wait for next month to find some time to listen in to what you other folks have been up to.

I really like your "video reinforcement". It adds to the experience in a very positive way...

Oh, and I want your hat.

James...nice "Dylan-esque" style on "The Girl" and as for the collab, the music reminds me of Don Ho's music(instrumental-wise)....nice finger pickin' all around.

You've definitely had your hands full lately and you've handle the tremendous load exceptionally well...my hat's off to you Sir Fraser...I'm very impressed! (http://planetsmilies.net/person-smiley-1195.gif) (http://planetsmilies.net)
