After careful & lengthy deliberation on all the factors,I decided that it was time to sell my Alesis Ion,to use that cash towards purchasing the Korg M50 & the reasons are these;
As I've mentioned in the past,the keybed action is terrible on the Ion & the keys are too small and I could not justify spending money on a midi controller,just to be able to play my Ion effectively.Also,while the arpeggio rhythyms are interesting-the fact that there is no arpeggio pattern recording,makes the arpeggios virtually useless,as I cannot add these to my recording without there being timing errors & it's driving me batty!I intended on holding onto the Ion,because I love the unique sounds,and I even tried sampling some of the Ion's sounds to my Korg to make them more usable,but the sampling changes the character of the Ion's sounds & it just does not sound the same & it's too much work & headaches. I also did not like the fact that half the time I powered up my Ion,I would have no audio and then I would have to shut it off & turn it on again to get sound...so I wanted to sell it now,while it's still operable & while I can still get a decent dollar for it.I also figured that if I wanted to replace some of the Ion's sounds that I love,I could probably replicate them,using the Propellerhead software of which I will eventually buy down the road...All this being said,I took the plunge & placed an order for my Korg M50!
