I haven't had time to make any music of late, due to a bout of *real life* kicking in.
So here is a little something to fill in the gap.
A couple of months ago I was invited by KVRist *Liqih* to participate in a project wher he wanted to send a selection of songs to his chosen KVR singers to be remixed by him for a *singers project album*.
This song, Take Me To The Mountain: Lyrics by Polly Porter, Music by Liqih, was given to me.  The original file was of a musical backing in electronic format for me to sing to. The idea would be for Liqih to mix this into a new backing.
After numerous attempts he has mixed it as a duet with another singer.
The result, along with some of the other songs, can be found here: http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=224779

As I liked the song so much I also made my own version.  Cool
I took the vocal track and reworked the backing to my own style as a country song. Guitars and bass.
This is how it came out.
I really enjoyed this, as a project.

James,

Your version of this song is infinitely better instrumentally & the mix is superb! Cool

The version on KVR is a boomy & muddled mix & the arrangement does not do much for me.

Great going with this one. Cheesy

Well done

Thanks for the comments.
Just as a point of interest, this version actually takes the vocal from the *supplied* version and adds a new backing track. If I decide, in the future to revisit this song I would like to do it *from the ground up* and rework the whole arrangement.
When I can find some time I think this would be most interesting.

Hmm. I didn't realise that. Yes, it would make an interesting comparison.

P.S.
When you find a supply of 'time' can you let me know where it is. Some days I seem to run out completely  Roll Eyes

I did not hear the KVR version but this one is top shelf for sure.

Great job James!
