I hesitated posting this one as I’ve heard no country songs here, but I figured what the heck I may be the first to do so!

Actually this is a practice session using BiaB’s RealTracks, which are loops that automatically follow your chord progression.  Here I used a Pedal Steel guitar for both a background and a lead instrument in this country song “I Believe in You”.   I’m not completely happy with them but this is the best I could do.

I was also practicing my fretting hand stretches so you will hear some string noise as I was not using my flat wound stringed guitar on this.

But I did have fun and that’s all that matters to me

This is a good effort, but knowing the song reasonably well, I really miss the vocal  Undecided

 Cool
I'm a sucker for a bit of country. You nailed the sound here, but I got to agree with folderol....when you know the song it just isn't the same without the vocal. Maybe because the simplicity of the vocal line is not elaborate enough to carry a solo guitar.
Well played, country boy.

Thanx for listening and the kind words of encouragement!

I don’t remember but I think he lives in western Canada  Grin Grin Grin

Maybe now we will have more country music posted!

Folderol and offthewall, you both are correct. This song demands a singer, but I’m not the one!  Without a vocal the song is boring but I was going for the country feel using the pedal steel.

Hey Mario,

Nice laid back sound. That pedal steel shure sounds great on this one.
Cool guitarplaying too. Never mind fretnoise: it's all part of the "real deal" when recording guitar (mho)

Nice country vibe, Mario.

Needs more string noise, though  Grin

Mario,

It's kind of silly to be uncomfortable with submitting a certain genre of music...I think you know all of us better than that! Huh Grin

When it comes to old school country,I personally love Patsy Kline,Johnny Cash,Hank Williams etc.,.I just don't care for new country, such as Shania Twain,Garth Brooks,Billy Ray Cyrus etc.,.

If you were to do some Creedance Clearwater Revival-that would be right up my alley! In fact,if you were to do the music,I would be up for a collaboration to do the vocals of a C.C.R. tune...say for instance,"Have You Ever Seen The Rain?".

I don't know the original of this song, but I enjoyed the slide guitar in this very much and the reason that you have not heard me do a country song,is because country music is very guitar-oriented,so it would not make very much sense for me to try and cover a country tune instrumentally.

It sure sounds like you had fun with this cover,as you did a top notch job on this one. Cool

Cheers,

Thom

Thanx for listening guys!

Oren, string noise is my cowbell  Grin

Thom, Let’s do it!  You pick the song and key and I’ll start on it.  Of course along with the vocals you can add any instrumentation you would like and/or change what I do.

Mario,

The C.C.R. song: "Have You Ever Seen The Rain",would be alot of fun to do.Since I am strictly a "by ear" musician,I cannot tell you what key to play, but rather,I can only tell you that I wish to do it in the key of the original song(whatever that is).

Thanks,

Thom
