Theme this month is:
The World in Turmoil
Your task this month is to write a composition that offers a solution to any one of our problems.

 Cool
In this modern world, which seems to be inspired by greed, business owners have changed their attitudes since a couple of centuries ago. At one time expansion could mean giving a couple of extra jobs to a cousin or nephew but now it means trying to establish operations in as many countries as possible. Most companies are looking at world domination. This, in turn, creates more need to travel which, in it’s own turn, creates more consumption of fossil fuels and more deadly pollution. Hardly anyone is able to work near their homes so have to commute … more pollution. Big multi-national stores are now built out of town so we have to travel in order to do our shopping … more pollution.
Oh, if we could only turn back time to before the invention of motorised transport!  If we could only ‘down-size’ back to local corner shops selling home produce!

Back to the Village

We need to go back to the village, we need to go back to working the land
We need to return to the family circle, where all that we do is what we understand.
We need to get rid of the aeroplane, and take the wheels from the automobiles,
Our progress in travel is killing this world, let’s stick with our families and see how it feels.

We’re killing our world, we’re choking it dead
By filling the air with gases and lead,
If we stay in our villages, live with our kin
Maybe we can cleanse things, and then we may win.

If we could reverse all the notions, of motors and stick with the cart and the horse
And undo the invention of flying machines, the way that we live would have to change course.
Forced to stay with our community, unable to say that we need to commute,
We’d all have to labour with things that surround us, no need to uproot and no need to pollute.

We’re killing our world, we’re choking it dead
By filling the air with gases and lead,
If we stay in our villages, live with our kin
Maybe we can cleanse things, and then we may win.

Our modern idea of progress, business expansion and corporate plan,
Is making us think that we all need to travel, no matter the cost to our own fellow man.
Let’s all pull up the drawbridge, stay in our villages work with our own,
Do without all the stuff sent from a distance, see if we can live from the seeds that we’ve sown.

We’re killing our world, we’re choking it dead
By filling the air with gases and lead,
If we stay in our villages, live with our kin
Maybe we can cleanse things, and then we may win.

James

Yep, this is very Dylan!

James, your lyrics are super here, as is your instrumentation.  Great playing and singing.

la chanson est vraiment très jolie, mais comment peut-on faire marche arrière? Nous ne pourrions plus nous connaître Angry
